Dear George,

Almost a year has gone by since our first meeting. The circumstances of which were less than ideal (to say the least). Things have turned around for me since then. I have not had a drop of alcohol since April 26, 2010, I intend to keep it that way. My family, along with a handful of friends, continue to be my support group. All of whom encourage me and tell me how proud they are of me almost everyday. My husband, {…} continues to be my biggest supporter. Our marriage has had its ups and down, but nothing like what we have encountered in the past. We have decided to make a fresh start and are moving to {…}, away from the old friends and nightmares of the past. Not to run away, just move forward. We will be right around the corner from my younger sister and about an hour away from the one that wrote you the letter.

I have thought about you and what you have done for me often. I will never forget what it all means to me. Without you, I would not be where I am today. Your kindness on such a bleak night, helped me through the scariest time of my life. For that I will always be grateful. Please know that no words written or spoken will ever convey the gratitude or respect that I have for you.

I hope that all has gone well for you and your extended family since we last corresponded. I hope that you have all adjusted to being together and have transitioned into your new family life without too many difficulties. I think about your family often and wish you all well.

I wish we could have met under better terms, but then we may not have met at all. Life just works that way sometimes I guess. Thank you again for all that you have done for me and my family. I appreciate it more than you will ever know.
