Red, White, & Booze? Avoiding a DUI Arrest

Fourth of July is a big deal here in Columbus and nationwide. Every year millions of people watch fireworks, grill food, and unfortunately, drink and drive. Before you decide to have a couple of beers and drive yourself home, there are some things you should consider.

The fourth of July is one of the most dangerous days of the year because of drunk drivers. According to data from NHTSA, people died in crashes involving drivers with a BAC of .08 or more during the July 4th holiday period. These fatalities account for 40% percent of all motor vehicle traffic fatalities over this same period of time. You already know drunk drivers are on the road. There is no need to increase the chance that you are injured in a car accident by drinking too.

The cops are searching for drunk drivers

Cops know more people are out drinking and driving. They are setting up checkpoints and monitoring

populated roads to ensure the safety of citizens.

A DUI isn’t worth it

This point can’t be stressed enough. It isn’t worth hiring a DUI lawyer, getting injured or going to jail

for a couple of drinks. If you really want to drink do it at your house or a place you intend to spend the

night. If you really want to go out and drink, call a taxi or get a designated driver.
